Riley Klein is a weaver, mixed media artist, and curator creating in Detroit, Michigan. Her work ranges from tapestry weaving, CMF design, and curated exhibitions. Riley is currently pursuing a BFA in Fiber and Textiles at the College for Creative Studies as a Junior student and is a recipient of CCS’s Alumni Scholarship (2024). During her time at CCS, Riley interned at Embrace Creatives gallery (Fall 2024), and Melissa Webb Studio (Spring 2024), worked as a Gallery Assistant at Materia Gallery (2024), and as the Textile Design Studio Assistant at CCS (2022-2024).
Riley has contributed to artworks permanently displayed in General Motors' Design West Building and has contributed to artworks showcased in galleries nationwide. Riley’s work has been featured in exhibitions at MOCAD, Hatch Art, and Cranbrook, and has been featured through Wasserman Projects and Fiber Club* Detroit. In summer of 2024, Riley attended the Penland School of Craft as a scholarship recipient (2024), where she explored sculptural fibers for two weeks.
In addition to her artwork, Riley also studies design and curates exhibitions. Through her design studies, Klein has participated in a sponsored studio with Lacks Enterprises, a Tier One automotive supplier. Students in this course designed and produced Luminelle light boxes, CMF design boards, and showcased consumer research for Lacks Enterprises. Her curatorial work has included the “Girlhood” exhibition at U245 Gallery (2024), showcasing emerging talents, as well as the forthcoming Fiber Club* exhibition at University of Michigan (2024). Riley is open and eager to continue exploring her artwork, CMF, and curatorial roles, and enjoys working alongside other creatives!
